It's Official!

After months of talk, seemingly false starts and rocky paths to getting to this point. Today, July 27th, it's official. We signed the papers, own the lot and have given the first draw for the builder to begin construction.

It's likely February 2008 before we get the pleasure of moving in to our new home but in the meanwhile there will be a host of walk throughs and enjoying the process of seeing it rise. You can see from the houses in the background, others are moving in too. So we'll get to see this neighborhood take shape from the early days.

Oak Terrace Preserve on Local NBC News

The local NBC News Affiliate, Channel 2, aired a brief article on Oak Terrace Preserve on July 25th. Here is a link to the article.

The article focuses on the economic aspects of the energy savings and interviews a couple who were some of the first families to move in. The piece briefly highlights some of the energy/cash conscious pieces to the couple's home; dual-flush toilets to save water, on-demand hot water heater, carpet from recycled materials, substantial insulation, etc. As you might expect from a quick (3 minute) piece on the evening news, there's not a lot of time spent talking about the issues behind the buzz words but it does help to raise some awareness.
